Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday took serious notice of leaking of sensitive official information from Ministry of Interior and issued show cause notices to joint secretary, deputy secretary and section officer. An official said that the interior minister also suspended Section Officer Naqeeb on the basis of preliminary inquiry report.
On Friday last, a news item regarding a letter written by the Ministry of Interior to the DG Rangers Punjab was leaked to media. According to the letter, the federal government has threatened to withdraw paramilitary force from Punjab province if director general (DG) Rangers Punjab failed to explain reasons behind a raid conducted on a private housing society 'Top City,' located in Chowki Hameedan area of the federal capital, till May 22.
Sources had said that Ministry of Interior following the directives of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had written a letter to the DG Rangers Punjab on May 15, asking him to explain the reasons behind raid on a private house scheme on May 12 in the federal capital but Punjab Rangers did not respond to the letter. They had said that Ministry of Interior on May 17 again wrote a letter to the DG Rangers Punjab and threatened that federal government will withdraw Rangers from Punjab if DG Rangers failed to respond to the letter till May 22. Police sources had said that Rangers had conducted raid on the private housing society on May 12 and had picked the housing society owner Mooez Kunwar along with dozens of security guards. The raiding team had claimed to have seized a large cache of weapons from the detainees, they said. According to a statement issued by the spokesman for Ministry of Interior on Saturday, the minister said that it is unacceptable when a government official not only shows irresponsible attitude, but also shows dishonesty. There is no place for such kind of officers in the ministry, he further said.
