Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir on Saturday said that joint efforts of public and private sectors can bring revolution vis-a-vis provision of best basic health facilities to the masses.
"The service has been introduced in the province on the pattern of Rescue-1122 and pregnant women or any family member can call on helpline 1034 for ambulance in emergency situation for transportation to a nearby health centre or hospital," Imran Nazir said this while inaugurating the inaugural ceremony of 'Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Ambulance Service,' here on Saturday.
Director IRMNCH Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Director General Rescue-1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer, Additional Director MNCH Programme Dr Akhtar Rasheed Malik, Member Health P&D Dr Shabana Haider, CEO PPHA Dr Shabnam, representatives of Unicef, WHO, GMs Ufone, Mystic company and a large number of officers of Primary & Secondary Department were present in the function.
Khawaja Imran Nazir said that the Punjab government, according to the vision of the Punjab Chief Minister, all steps is taking for the provision of state-of-the-art health facilities to the people of Punjab and introduction of rural ambulance service is a part of these efforts. He said the ambulance service would prove a milestone in reducing maternal and infant mortality rate which very high at the moment. Imran Nazir disclosed that after few days, health budget for 2017-18 would be the biggest health budget in the history of the province. Member P&D Dr Shabana Haider disclosed that in every 40 minutes, one pregnant woman dies in Pakistan and we have to them through new initiative.
