The Deputy Commissioner Lahore and Lord Mayor and other allied departments have given a final shape to all arrangements to set up 31 Ramadan Bazaars in the provincial metropolis. These Bazaars will be functional by 24 May 2017. Deputy Commissioner Sami Ahmad Syed has said that the government machinery will take solid steps to provide relief to the citizens by keeping control the prices of edible items stable, stopping hoarding of daily usable items and giving subsidies on different vegetables and fruits.
These Ramadan Bazaars will be set up at Model Town Link Road, Makka Colony, Barkat Market, Bab-e-Pakistan, Galib Market, Model Bazaar Township, Model Bazaar, Sher Shah Colony, Nishter Colony, Ferozpur Road, Khana Nu, Main Ferozpur Road, Begum Kot Chowk, Dehli Gate, Elahi Bukhsh Road, Wahdat Colony, Gulshan-e-Ravi Moon Market, Nadeem Shaheed Road, Shadman Wapda Grid Station, Govt Girls Degree Collage Islampura, Karim Park Gol Ground, Model Bazaar Mian Plaza, Model Bazaar Sabzazar, Model Bazaar Raiwind, Model Bazaar Thokar Niazbaig, Model Bazaar Chung, Jallo Morr GT Road Batapur, Itwaar Bazaar Ghaziabad, Model Bazaar Harbanspura, Chungi Do-gage, Gol Ground Shadbagh, Singh Pura and Model Bazaar China Scheme.
The district administration and Metropolitan Corporation have issued duty roster of officials for performing duties. The livestock department has been given the task of uninterrupted supply of mutton, beef, chicken, and eggs in all Ramadan Bazaars. Moreover, veterinary doctors would also be present in bazaars to keep a careful and sharp watch on the quality and quantity of meat from 9 am to 6 pm. To avoid vehicle or motorcycle thefts and to maintain the flow of traffic, Lahore Parking Company has arranged parking areas along with bazaars which would be free of cost.
The agriculture department would supply standardized fruits and vegetable and would ensure display of rate list on each stall. It would also set up fair price shops where subsidized items along with other 17 items would be available on rates less than the rates of open market. The Lahore Health Authority is also going to establish health camp and first aid point in each bazaar for which arrangements have been accomplished.
