KP government plans to generate 0.6 million jobs through two-mega housing projects
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has planned to generate 0.6 million jobs by launching two mega housing schemes costing Rs 954 billion in the provincial metropolis.
This was disclosed by Dr Amjad Ali, special Assistant to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister while speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday. He said that these mega projects include Peshawar Model Town and CPEC City. He said the agreements had been signed with Frontier Works Organization (WFO) in order to ensure completion of these plans within shortest possible time.
Dr Amjad said that the estimated cost of Peshawar Model Town was five billion dollars, comprising 108,500 kanals consisting of 81,000 residential plots. Similarly, the four billion dollars CPEC-City plan would comprise of 80,000 kanals consisting of 62,000 residential plots. Both the projects would accommodate one million population of the provincial metropolis.
He said that the total investment in both the projects would be around 954 billion rupees. These projects would be fully equipped with modern facilities including five star hotels, gulf course, shopping malls, quality educational institution, medical complex, apartments, fuel stations, sports facilities and power generating system. The lawmaker said that the provincial government had also signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Beijing and with completion of these projects the problem of unemployment would be significantly reduced.
He said that the Peshawar Model Town also include media enclave which had been approved in 2015 and it would help solve residential problems of the media persons in Peshawar. He said the journalists in other districts would also be provided residential plots in the towns to be established under the vision-2025 initiated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government. These houses, he said would be low cost and equipped with basic facilities to be initiated in Hazara Division.
Besides, he said government would construct low cost houses on five-marla plots under its 'Khpal Kor' scheme, saying that owners would construct the houses and for the purpose bank loans would be provided on easy conditions. A pilot project of the plan would be initiated on state land at Dheri Zardad near Charsadda Interchange of Motorway which had already been approved by PHA on December 13, 2016.
The benefices up to two lacs, would include government employees, pensioners and poor people while recovery would be completed during next 20-25 years. The estimated cost of per house on five-marla house would be up to Rs 1.7 million which would involve investment up to Rs 510 billion to bring an economic revolution. The government, he said was also serious to launch housing schemes on basis of public-private partnership at Behram Dheri Charsadda, Dangram Swat, Surizai Peshawar, Swarai Buner. He said proposals in this regard were sought from relevant departments. He also talked about different other housing schemes in the province wherein people had been given possession at Mulazai Peshawar, Havelia Township, Jarma Kohat, saying that work on Jalozai housing scheme had also been expedited.
