PIA Engineering & Maintenance department has achieved another milestone by successfully overhauling the landing gears of Airbus A320 Aircraft locally. This was stated by Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, Advisor to Prime Minister on Aviation at a ceremony held at PIA Engineering Hanger on Thursday.
By completing this project PIA has been able to save foreign exchange around half million US Dollars and further savings are in the offing, he said. Sardar Mehtab said that it is his vision to see PIA among the top five airlines of the World and Insha Allah soon this will be achieved. He emphasised on the need to upgrade its maintenance capabilities to save valuable foreign exchange for airline and to create job opportunities and provide maintenance services to other airlines hence generating foreign exchange revenue, he said.
Mehtab said that though there are dark clouds over the sky but he sees a ray of hope in PIA. He said that some recent incidents has tarnished the image of airline but vowed not to tolerate the dead woods and especially the enemies of national flag carrier who are also the enemies of country. PIA is not a history but a living grace which still exists and will continue, he said. He announced that PIA Eng employees would be given due share in profitability ie 25% of the profits of third party maintenance would be distributed amongst the employees. -PR
