Adviser to Prime Minister, Amir Muqam, has said that the government was making serious efforts to eliminate load shedding by next year. Addressing a news conference in Wapda house Peshawar on Sunday, he said that the government was working to upgrade power transmission system besides power projects to eliminate load shedding by the next year.
Amir Muqam added that work on mega power projects including Tarbela-IV, Neelum-Jhelum and Diamer Bhasha dam was well under way. He criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying that PTI government could not produce even a single megawatt during the last four years despite having full power to initiate projects.
Strongly condemning attacks on power grid stations, Amir Muqam said PTI members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly were attacking grid stations and trying to politicise the power issue. He asked the MPAs and ministers to play their positive role for the development of the country. Taking jibes at Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman, Imran Khan, he said those talking about reforms and changes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had miserably failed to honour promises and commitment.
Commenting on 'Youm-e-Takbeer' day, he said Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif had made Pakistan a 'nuclear power'. He said that nation showing unity to make Pakistan an Asian Tiger in economic terms as it had shown unity in 1998 when the country carried out nuclear tests making the national defense impregnable. He further said that May 28, 1998 was an unforgettable day in the history of Pakistan when country appeared on the map of world as an Atomic power. 'Youm-e-Takbeer' is not only a symbol of bravery of our nation but also a strong message to our enemies that aggressors would meet an exemplary fate.
Advisor to PM said that 19 years ago, when Pakistan Muslim League government decided to carry out nuclear tests, it had been facing numerous challenges. On one side, it had been facing the threats of economic sanctions while on the other hand it was being dubbed as unforgivable offense.
He said the journey of national economic development was going on at an unprecedented pace in the history of Pakistan and "just like nuclear explosion, Pakistan will also carry out an economic explosion," he said. He said PML-N believe in the development of the country rather than in 'Dharna politics'. He claimed that PML-N would form government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as in rest of the country, on basis of performance.
