The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing in the contempt case against Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan till June 7. Spokesman PTI Fawad Chaudhry submitted the chairman PTI's response with the ECP, prompting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) former Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza to ask the counsel to review his client's response. Chaudhry argued before the ECP bench that the matter of contempt is a case of misunderstanding.
But the CEC replied that after reviewing the response, it was obvious that Khan took back review petition; however, he has yet to apologise. In another case, while hearing the PTI's party funding case, the ECP bench issued the verdict that the commission has right to investigate the party funding matter, and gave the PTI time until June 22 to submit its records with the commission.
