This is apropos a Business Recorder news item "Govt expresses 'immense sorrow' over judge's remarks" carried by the newspaper on Friday. According to it, spokesman for the government of Pakistan has expressed 'immense sorrow' over remarks by an honourable judge of the Supreme Court (SC), terming it "against judicial traditions and code of ethics of the apex court."
That government spokesman has also said the "honourable judge, without having complete knowledge of the matter, not only levelled baseless allegations against the government, but also termed action taken by the prime minister a reaction to the contempt of court notice issued to Hashmi by the Supreme Court." That the honourable judge has violated no code of conduct of the apex court is a fact. He had simply pointed out that Sicilian mafia threatens judges and their families. The apex court has taken the right decision to open a contempt of court case against the former PML-N senator. Law must take its course.
