The Karachi Port handled 151,217 tonnes of cargo comprising 111,249 tonnes of import cargo and 39,968 tonnes of export cargo including 8,662 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 111,249 tonnes comprised of 50,199 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,407 tonnes of general cargo; 48,627 tonnes of bulk cargo: 39,122 tonnes of coal; 3,175 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 4,428 tonnes of fertilizer; 1,902 tonnes of soyabean meal and 4,016 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 39,968 tonnes comprised of 38,618 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of general cargo and 1,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,662 containers comprising of 3,287 containers import and 5,375 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,550 of 20's and 868 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,100 of 20's and 504 of 40's loaded containers while 1,251 of 20's and 1,008 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Kota Karim, Maribor, Arabian Orchid and Hyun Ju carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. MOL Explorer, Champion Tide and Bengal Orchid carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Maliakos, Peridot and Wide India carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely MOL Explorer carrying containers is expected to sail on Saturday.
There were four vessels viz. APL Coral, Cosco Fukuyama, MT Quetta and IVS Gleneagles carrying containers, oil tanker and DAP respectively due to arrive on Friday while nine vessels viz. Northern Dependant, MSC Krittika, Hyundai Global, Crystal Sambus, Chemroad Fuji, Athina, IYO, Lina Hua Song and Bushra-VI carrying containers, white spirit, oil tankers, steel, railway bogies and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total export cargo of 24,035 tonnes includes 24,035 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,189 containers comprising of 1,924 containers import and 1,265 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There was one ship namely MT Scirocco carrying diesel oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely CV CMA CGM Nerval and CV APL Coral carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Nerval, CV APL Coral, CV MSC Tomoko, MV Lian Hua Song, MV Anthemis, MV Nord Destiny, MT Scirocco and MT Chemroad Fuji currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twenty-two ships namely CV San Felix, CV MSC Federica, MV Bao An Ling, MV Calipso, MV Star Trader, MV Eternal Triumph, MV Nord Leader, MV Gaschem Antartic, MV Tomson Gas, MT North Gas, MT White Pearl, MT Margarita, MT Sakizaya Diaono, MT Al-Salam-II, MT BW Zamesi, MT Bahra, MT Bneider, MT Fortune Villa, MT Al Mahfooz, MT Lion-M, MT Shalamar and Maritime Lira carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV San Felix, CV Hugo Schulte, MV Gaschem Antartic and MT Fortune Villa carrying containers, chemical and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were four ships namely CV San Felix, CV Hugo Schulte, MT Gas Chemroad and MT North Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Puget and CV TG Poseidon carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely MV Central Park carrying chemical is due to arrive on Sunday.
