Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has appeared before Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in an ongoing case that seems to have gripped the entire country and threatened to topple his government under Constitution's Articles 62 and 63. The six-member JIT had summoned the PM last week to appear and associate with the JIT and also bring all relevant record.
The prime minister arrived at the Judicial Academy with his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif and other colleagues. Piqued by the probe, a visibly angry prime minister hit out at what he said 'kathputli ka tamasha' after his three-hour appearance before the JIT. His outburst against his perceived or real enemies was unwarranted because while he was claiming that he accounted for every single penny and that details of his assets were already with all institutions including Supreme Court, despite that he had submitted to the JIT, he took a jibe at JIT by saying that people should know, this investigation has no relation to corruption or embezzlement from the national exchequer, this is a matter of a family's private and personal business. Little did he however know that his remarks had in fact provided PTI chief Imran Khan an opportunity to step up pressure on his beleaguered government.
