Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) has demanded of the State Bank of Pakistan to extend the "export period" for further six months under its Export Finance Scheme Part-II.PCMEA Vice Chairman Riaz Ahmad said this after meeting the association members. He said in view of prevailing situation in the local and international markets, meeting the conditions of State Bank of Pakistan's Export Finance Scheme Part-II is too difficult. Therefore, he said the export target under the Scheme needs to be revised downward to one and half.
Though, the carpet industry is striving to enhance exports, yet it needs government patronage to achieve 100 percent results, he added. He also stressed the need for evolving new but comprehensive policy in consultation with the stakeholders.
