Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will fulfill all the financial needs of the projects running in Pakistan under the strategic policy, said the Bank's vice President Jaochim Von Amsberg. While presiding over the 2nd annual body meeting of the bank held in South Korea, Jaochim, he briefed about the future plans stating that AIIB has been working on two projects in the country including extension of Tarbela Dam and M4 motorway.
He said that work on projects in Pakistan was going very smoothly and all the financial requirements as per the agreement will be fulfilled in the future as well. Jaochim also noted that AIIB and Pakistan were also in negotiations about different projects of energy, infrastructure and others which will be finalised with the meaningful and productive consultations.
He added that AIIB have an effective plan to invest under the projects of One Belt One Road initiative proposed by China for better connectivity of different regions. The bank management was satisfied with the achievements made in last 18 months since its launch and they have a lot to do in future.
He told that AIIB has three thematic priorities for working on the projects including sustainable infrastructure, transcontinental connectivity and mobilising private capital fund. The AIIB received proposals about 300 projects in last 18 months but only 70 have been approved while 16 were selected for the investment. He added that $ 2.5 billion have been invested on the running projects while more will be invested in the coming years to fulfill the needs of the clients. $ 90 trillion needs to be invested in the infrastructure of Asian countries in next 15 years which means $ 6 trillion were essential every year for different projects in these states, he went on saying.
