Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) has fixed July 5, next date for hearing in the Mashal Khan lynching case. It may be noted that on April 13, a mob of students and employees of the Abdul Wali Khan University lynched Mashal Khan, a student of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department, after accusing him of blasphemy.
Later on, Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took suo-moto notice of the lynching case. On the directive of SC a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was established to probe the lynching case. Few days ago the JIT completed its investigation and prepared a report.
According to the JIT report, police identified 60 suspected in Mashal lynching case through videos footage. Local police has arrested 57 suspected in the lynching case and the remaining three accused are absconders including PTI teshil councilor Mohammad Arif, Pakhtun Students Federation (PkSF) President of AWKUM Sabirullah Mayar and other activists of PkSF Asad Katlang. The sources said Mohammad Iqbal Khan father of Mashal Khan has showed concern over the proceeding in Mashal Khan lynching case at Mardan courts and demanded the government to shift the case to other district.
