The mighty Indus is in low flood with the flow of 2,48,000 cusecs at Chashma, river Kabul is in low flood at Nowshera with 59,000 cusecs running water and the river Chenab is in low flood at Marala with the flow of 91,000 cusecs of water. The Flood Warning Center(FWC) said here on Thursday that low to medium flooding is expected in the Nullahs of river Ravi and Chenab along with hill torrents of D G Khan today 30th June.
Provincial cabinet committee for floods finalises safety arrangements. A three-hour meeting of the Provincial Cabinet Committee for Floods presided over by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif finalized arrangements to Deal with any flood situation and provide safety and relief to the affected people here on Thursday.
The Chief Minister directed that provincial ministers for Irrigation and Communication & Works and Secretaries concerned should inspect safety arrangements by paying surprise visits.
He also directed to maintain suitable stock of clean drinking water. The Met Department gave a briefing about weather situation while different Provincial Departments apprised about their flood emergency plans. Provincial ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmad, Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari, Sh Allauddin, Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Special Assistant Malik Ahmad Khan, Vice Chairman WASA Ch Shehbaz Ahmad MPA, Chief Secretary, Federal Secretary Water & Power, Commissioner Pakistan Indus Water, Commander Engineer 4
Corps Brig. Umar Farooqi, Secretaries of Provincial Departments and high officials of concerned departments attended the meeting in Civil Secretariat through video-link, while provincial ministers Malik Nadeem Kamran, Ijaz Achlana, Naeem Akhtar Bhaba, Asif Manhais, Amanat Ullah Shadikhel, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and high officials of departments concerned participated in the meeting from their respective districts through video-link.
