Senior journalists, chief editor Daily Jehad, author of several books and laureate of Presidential Pride of Performance Award, Sharif Farooq passed away after protracted illness. Late, Sharif Farooq remained Editor, Daily Shahbaz, Peshawar from 1951 to 1962 and also remained Chief Reporter, Nawa-e-Waqt, Lahore and Resident Editor Nawa-e-Waqt, Rawalpindi.
Sharif Farooq also launched Daily Jehan Nama from Lahore and then Daily Jehand from Peshawar. The prize winning books of late Sharif Farooq were included 'Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Baresaghir ka Marde Hur' and Mother-e-Millat Samaye Millat' and others.
He played major role in the promotion of quality journalism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He has left behind two sons Tahir Farooq, Khalid Farooq and three daughters to mourn his death.
His Nimaz-e-Janaza was offered at Javed Town, Lakki Dheri Road, Farooq Street Gulbahar No.4 while his Rasme Qul will be offered today (Sunday) at his residence at Farooq Street, Javed Town Lakki Dheri Road, Gulbhar No.4. The late senior journalist was hospitalized in a private hospital of Hayatabad, Peshawar where Minister of State, Marriyum Aurangzeb recently visited him and paid to tributes to his journalistic services.
