The agriculture is the backbone of our economy which is directly linked to poverty alleviation. Therefore, it is prerequisite to equip the farming community with modern techniques and trends to make the sector profitable and sustainable, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan.
He was chairing a session of one-day orientation seminar on internship of BBA (Agribusiness) arranged by the Institute of Business Management Sciences University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Institute of Business Administration Sukkur.
Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan urged the students to enhance their professional skills and come up with innovative idea in their respective fields that will help fight the different in life. He told the gathering that quality and trained manpower was a guarantee of bright future.
He further said that strong academia-industry linkages, knowledge-based economy and innovative thinking are essential to address the issues of industry, common man, farmers and other stakeholders. He said that the secret of the development of any county is in quality education and trained manpower which are imperative to alleviate poverty.
Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr Tanvir Ali said that the university was making all-possible measures to produce trained manpower that will help the agricultural sector to cope with the different challenges. He urged the researchers to work jointly to solve the problems of the stakeholders, industry and farming community.
Muhammad Imran of HBL Rural Product said that 30 students of the BBA Agribusiness are getting internships in his bank in order to equip them with the practical knowledge. IBA Sukkur Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization Director Pervez Ahmad; UAF's Dr Hammad Badar and other notables also spoke on the occasion.
