Pakistan is set to host Association of International Sports Press (AIPs) Asia Congress scheduled on October 5-8 this year. More than 70 international sports journalists from 35 countries of the world will participate. The decision in this connection was taken in an Executive Body Meeting of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation (SWAF) held at PID Office Islamabad with President SWAF Amjad Aziz Malik in the chair.
Amjad Aziz Malik, who is also Secretary AIPs Asia, SVP Nasar Iqbal (Sindh), Secretary SWAF Zahid Farooq Malik (Islamabad), Associate Secretary Ijaz Ahmad Khan (KP), treasurer Shehzad Malik (Punjab), President KP SWA Jehanzeb Saddique, members EC Hanif Bajauri (FATA), Imtiaz Ahmad (Sindh) Shakeel Khan and Azmat Ullah (KP) were also present. President PFUJ and National Press Club Afzal Butt, Secretary National Press Club Imran were also present.
Speaking on this occasion, Amjad Aziz Malik informed the house that the Congress is scheduled in Oct this year wherein 70 international journalists from 35 countries of the world will participate. He said PSWF has bided for holding the Congress with the aim to highlight a soft image of Pakistan besides giving a message of peace to the rest of world. He said it a golden opportunities for PSWF to make all things in order to that to win back the bid of hosting the prestigious Congress of AIPs Asia.
He said besides 70 international sports journalists from 35 countries President AIPs World Giani Marlo of Italy, President and Secretaries of AIPs America and UK will also graced the occasion as observes during the World Congress. Malik informed the house that he held meetings with State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryum Aurangzeb, Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardhari, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali, IPC Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada who assured support to PSWF if it succeeded in winning the bidding of hosting Congress. He said the Annual Award of the PSWF will be held on Dec 25 at Lahore wherein top 10 female and male players who excelled at international level. The awards would be named after prominent and yesteryear journalists.
