Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat shipped by rail to export terminals at the US Gulf weakened on Friday following heavy farmer sales earlier this week, dealers said. Bids were flat at interior terminals across the southern US Plains. Dealers said country movement was slow on Friday morning. Protein premiums for wheat delivered by railcar to or through Kansas City rose by 17 cents per bushel for ordinary wheat.
Premiums for wheat with protein content of 13 percent or greater rose by 10 cents per bushel. Premiums for other levels of protein were unchanged. K.C. September wheat futures were up 3-1/2 cents at $5.50 a bushel at 8:54 am CDT (1354 GMT).
