Harley-Davidson has been one of the favorites among people and this time, the motorcycle company has once again won the hearts of many by showing off its first ever electric motorcycle after teasing it for four years.

During the Milan Motorcycle Show this week, American motorcycle company Harley-Davidson showed off its first electric motorcycle that will be available in the market starting next year.

The bike named ‘LiveWire’ will get its power from a permanent magnet electric motor especially designed to ‘produce a tone that increases in pitch and volume with speed’. The motor is located low in the motorcycle to lower the center of gravity and enhance handling at various speeds and make it easier to control when stopped, wrote Tech Crunch.

The bike contains a main lithium-ion battery in a cast-aluminum housing, along with a second 12-volt lithium-ion battery for the lights, controls, horn, and dash, reported Popular Mechanics.

The e-bike comes in with a Level 1 charger, but can also be recharged with a Level 2, Level 3, DC Fast Charge, and IEC Type 2 charger. According to Harley-Davidson, every dealership will have a public DC Fast Charge station for the bike.

The bike comes in with antilock braking and traction control standard. The LiveWire will have seven ride modes; three of them will be the standard ones, whereas the other four can be owner’s specific combination of functions such as throttle response and traction control.

The modes will be controlled from a color tilt-able touchscreen display that will also handle Bluetooth pairing with the phone for navigation and music along with other features.

Moreover the tech specifications like speed, range, cost, and charging were not revealed by the company. But, the company said that sales for the bike will begin in 2019, with pre-orders starting in January.

The company said that it will reveal the further details in January 2019. The Harley-Davidson LiveWire will be the first one in what will be a portfolio of electric Harley-Davidson motorcycles that will be available by 2022.
