The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued directive to withhold the notification of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) leader Saeed Ghani's victory in PS-114 by-election, Karachi. The Commission had issued notice to Saeed Ghani to appear before the commission in an initial hearing held on Thursday. The ECP adjourned the hearing till July 17.
The ECP issued the directive following the petition of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan which challenged the victory of Saeed Ghani in July 9 by-election before the commission. The MQM requested the commission to hold notification of result till verification process is completed. It also demanded the vote recount and verification of thumb impressions of all the votes cast in the constituency.
