Sindh Minister for Human Resources and Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has directed the PTA and RTAs Secretaries to protect the valuable properties lying under their control. Reviewing the progress and performance of provincial and regional transport authorities, he directed them to pursue the pending legal and court matters and achieve the targets of revenue with the aim of welfare of the commuters properly not only increase the number of revenue targets.
Secretary Transport Abdul Raheem Soomro, officials of Transport, Secretary PTA Manzoor Kanrani and others attended the meeting. He said that they should monitor and inspect their jurisdiction to provide relief to the commuters.
He directed them to coordinate with divisional/regional and district administrations and Police authorities for their legal and technical support to implement traffic rules and transport laws for maximum benefits to the people at large with honesty, dedication and devotion. Afterwards such complaints and public grievances are received, concerned official will not be spared and tolerated.
Secretary Transport Sindh Abdul Raheem Soomro stressed the need for professionalism, motivation and commitment to their official obligations and responsibilities for resolution of the public's grievances and problems. He also exhorted them to send their suggestions and recommendations regarding public issues.
The Secretary also said that the department had to evolve a computerized system and mechanism to issue route permits and other data. These must be compiled with to run the affairs of PTA and RTAs on a fast track, instead of manual working and slow disposal of work and other affairs.
PTA and RTAs should pursue the pending matters related to legal, court, permits and properties etc and coordinate with focal person for early disposal the same without delay. Secretaries of PTA and RTAs apprised him of progress and performance during the financial year, including recovery, route permits, court cases and details related to properties.
On the strict directives of the Minister Transport Sindh Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, a massive campaign was launched before Eid against exorbitant transporters Challans were issued to 159 transporters and they were fined Rs 281,000, and Rs 417,800 were returned back to the commuters during Eid holidays. However, 948 school vans and coaches which used cylinders were inspected, out of which 428 illegal cylinders were seized and owners of the vans were fined over Rs 933,850.
