The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) is expanding its operation in Cholistan by opening 30 Cholistan mobile schools and 47 formal community schools, amid supporting already functional 10 Cholistan mobile schools under the same initiative. For this expansion phase applicants are invited from Tehsil Liaqatpur, Khan Pur (Rahim Yar Khan), Tehsil Fort Abaas (Bhawalnagar) and Mandi Yazman (Bahawalpur).
The PEF assistance aims at providing quality education to students in this remote area. Managing Director PEF Tariq Mahmud said this while presiding over a departmental coordination meeting on Thursday. He also said that foundation is committed to spread the light of knowledge in nook and corner of the province. PEF is playing an important role in imparting quality education in South Punjab.
He said that mobile schooling project for nomad communities of Cholistan will provide free quality education and books to destitute children without burdening their parents of any financial cost. Tariq also said that PEF has started its teacher's development training program for the academic year 2017-18. Under this initiative PEF will train 1488 teachers from 342 PEF partner schools of 30 districts. He also said they had organized 54 training sessions during the current month.
