The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) has asked the authorities concerned to speed up the process of new industrial gas connections which is must for the revival of industry. PIAF Chairman Irfan Iqbal Sheikh in a statement on Thursday welcomed the recommendations of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources for enhancement of new domestic gas connections up to one million per year.
The standing committee also recommended increase of domestic connections to new localities as a huge number of applications for gas connections are pending with the gas distribution companies, he added.
Though following the import of re-gasified liquid natural gas (RLNG) from Qatar the SNGPL had announced to entertain applications for new connections to the industrial consumers, the decision could not be implemented properly, he said, adding that hundreds of industrial consumers have applied for industrial connections which must be processed without further delay.
