Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri on Monday called the Panama case report a conspiracy to oust Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from power. "The objections filed by the prime minister are valid as the JIT's report is contrary to fact," Zehri said while addressing a press conference. He alleged that some elements were trying to pit institutions against each other under the garb of JIT's report.
"We understand that the report is based on malafide intentions and the fuss being made on it is beyond comprehension." He noted that the head of the investigation team had illegally acquired services of his cousin's firm in England. He alleged that the report by the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is "against the facts" and termed it a conspiracy against the prime minister.
"Prime Minister Sharif's objections to the report are justified. It is against the facts and a conspiracy against an elected prime minister." He said a few elements have tried to pit institutions against each other following the JIT report. "We understand that the report is based on malafide [intentions] and the fuss being made on it is beyond comprehension."
He said the government submitted its reservations over the report on the first day, noting that the head of the investigation team acquired services of his cousin's firm in England, which Zehri said was "illegal". The chief minister said they support the role of political parties which have a positive and constructive approach for saving the system. "The government's objections cannot be overlooked."
"Once again conspiracies are being hatched against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif; it won't be in the country's interest to destabilise an elected government," said Zehri. Zehri further said that the court's decision on the report should be awaited. "Political forces and parties in Balochistan stand by the prime minister and it is inappropriate to conspire against and topple the incumbent government."
"The journey of peace and prosperity in Balochistan is an outcome of the prime minister and the current government's efforts. The premier has discharged his responsibilities in a better manner and no one should have doubts about his patriotism." He also criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan without naming him. "If a man raises enough of hue and cry; he is yearning to become prime minister."
