KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said the resource generating power and developmental projects would lead the province to stand on its own feet. With the completion of these projects, the province would never look to others and even it would become a viable federating unit despite the excesses committed against it and the obstacles created by the federal government.
He directed for accelerated work on cement plant, Peshawar Model Town, Kernal Sher CPEC City and oil refinery in Karak. These are the projects that would constantly generate resources for the province. He also directed for the low cost housing schemes in all districts of the province. He was presiding over a meeting, attended by Advisor to CM on Housing Dr Amjad, DG FWO Suleman Qaiserani, Administrative secretaries and concerned officials of provincial government that focused on the provincial government plan for commercialization of public property and a briefing was also arranged on housing and energy.
The meeting was informed that the provincial government was expected to earn Rs 47 billion from two mega housing projects negotiated with Frontier Works Organization (FWO). These two housing schemes are Peshawar Model Town and Kernal Sher CPEC city. The provincial government was also expected to generate Rs 3554 million from different commercial activities in the province that included high rise flats at Hayatabad, Jalozai Housing scheme, Mulazai Housing scheme, Jarma Housing scheme Kohat and Havelian Housing scheme Abbottabad.
The commercial complex at Nishterabad, commercial complex at Tukara-III, satellite town Aboha Swat, Hangu Township, different towers at canal Warsak Road which were marketed in Beijing Road Show, would also generate Rs 96.123 billion.
The CM directed for the rationalization of PC-1s taking care of the provincial government needs and focusing on the environmental side. These projects should also add to the beauty of the areas. These projects should be planned in the way that they give return to the province, he added. He directed for the removal of obstacles in the public welfare activities and projects. He further directed the SMBR for the rapid transfer of land dedicated to different projects for commercialization.
The meeting was told about the developmental process in Hattar Industrial Zone adding that the process on the project of generating 225MW electricity was going on that had been presented in the CPEC related projects.The plots in the Jalozai Industrial Estate would be put on sale in May, the meeting was informed. Regarding the bridge financing, the CM directed the chief secretary, secretary finance and EZDMC to plan a phase wise process for six months.
Regarding the TEVTA, it was told that a meeting had been held with the FWO to determine responsibilities and a MoU was signed and a draft agreement concluded with FWO. Under which 5 out of 10 training centres had started offering technical and secondary classes wherein the Chinese language was also part of the syllabus.
The CM directed that the TEVTA must get its goals for training the youth. The CM also directed that the programmes and planes at the technical side should also include scholarships, training courses on aircraft, hand driving, commercial airlines, courses on heavy vehicles both right and left and proper understanding of traffic rules and regulations.
He said they are working on producing skilled manpower to meet the requirements for CPEC-related projects. He also directed to accelerate the pace of work on Swat Motorway, toll collection, security and the extension of national motorway procedure and mechanism for the use of latest technology and fines and penalties etc.
