Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has asked the concerned authorities of Fata Secretariat to accelerate the pace of development and ensure efficient utilization of funds in Fata. The annual allocation of Rs 24.5 billion for development purposes during the current year are unprecedented and are meant to make this possible, he said. This, he stated while presiding over a meeting on ADP 2017-18 at Governor's House, Peshawar. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Fata, Fida Muhammad Wazir, heads of different departments and organizations engaged in developmental activities besides the respective parliamentarians.
The Chief Economist of the Fata Secretariat briefed the meeting on Annual Development Programme. The Governor was informed that 70 percent of the total allocations are meant for ongoing projects while 30 percent have been allocated for the new schemes. The allocations have been further segregated on the basis of population, area and damaged infrastructure which are defined as 60 percent; 30 percent and 10 percent respectively. Apart from the projects included in ADP, there are schemes under PSDP as well.
The Governor expressed satisfaction that the schemes have been chalked out by political agents after having taken the concerned parliamentarians into confidence. However, he desired that consultation process with the parliamentarians should be further streamlined and their apprehensions resolved as well. He also desired to maintain transparency while implementing the development projects. Earlier, Fateha was offered for the eternal peace of the departed souls of the officer Maj. Jamal and jawan of Frontier Corps who have embraced martyrdom in a suicide attack at Hayatabad.
