Chairman Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said the party can use other options if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif does not resign. Bilawal expressed these views while addressing the journalists' community and party workers at 'Meet The Press Programme' of National Press Club on Monday. Bilawal said that all opposition parties were on the same page with regard to the demand of the Prime Minister's resignation as he had lost moral, social, political and legal authority to continue in his office.
He said if the Prime Minister did not resign then the PPP would devise its strategy. "The people will be informed about the party's next step in this case if the PM does not resign," Bilawal added. He also paid tribute to media personnel, highlighting the fact that several journalists had laid down their lives while performing their duties. "The PPP and the media have battled the dictatorship for the restoration of democracy together," he said.
"We want legislation for safety, security, protection and welfare of the journalists in the country. We want to adopt the draft law prepared by a parliamentary committee for the right to the information for journalists. The Senate Committee has passed a bill for this purpose which would be tabled in the Senate," he said. He said PML-N government was not interested in transparency and accountability. "I have concerns regarding the autonomy of National Commission on Human Rights," he said. The PPP wanted an independent commission on human rights in the country, he added.
