The Punjab Environment Protection Department and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) have decided to launch an 'awareness campaign' among the industrialists for countering environment pollution. Both the organization will hold a competition of tree plantation, cleanliness and landscaping to improve the surroundings of factories. The factories will also be encouraged to dispose off their wastage and garbage from the surroundings in a proper manner.
The competition will be held after every three months and factories contributing in environment protection will be acknowledged through awards. Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the steering committee of the provincial environment department held here on Monday which was participated by the high-ups of the department and representatives of the LCCI.
