Nawaz Sharif should not be under any misconception that people will come out for him on the streets if he is disqualified from Supreme Court in the ongoing Panama Papers case. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said this here on Thursday while talking to media persons. "He (Nawaz Sharif) should remember the day when he was deposed in 1999, people had distributed sweets then," he said, adding when Nawaz Sharif came back from the so-called exile, there was no one to receive him.
"If you remove Punjab police and patwaris (revenue officials), there is no one there who will come out for the Sharifs," he said, "I'm not talking about his (Nawaz Sharif) resignation, I am saying they are going to jail now for the crimes they have committed." Nawaz Sharif should be under no misconception that he is some "Mughal-e-Azam," he said, adding when anyone talks on their corruption, they remember democracy but forget the very basic of democracy which is transparency and accountability.
Khan said that PML-N leaders hear one thing in the Supreme Court and then come out and start hurling abuses and threats. "Nawaz Sharif, nobody is afraid of your threats; the nation no longer cares. You have been committing corruption for30 years," Khan alleged. He said that Sharif family's businesses were a front for corruption and money laundering; and they committed double crimes by taking stolen money outside. Khan said that international forensic agencies have declared their documents as forged and the case is now being heard in the Supreme Court.
"If they stand against the Supreme Court's decision, they will be in contempt of Pakistani constitution, and that again comes forward under a crime to be tried," he said. Talking about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said the provincial government supports professionals such as Akbar Ayub who have been struggling to bring positive change in lives of the people.
"For the first time, doctors from abroad have returned to work in Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar," he said, adding that Nawaz Sharif's mode of progress is only roads, but the KP government is focused on bringing improvement in education and health sectors. "Over 100,000 children have moved to government schools from private schools and this is a real change," he claimed, adding that there are objective reports that a massive percentage of people have been lifted out of poverty in KP, more than any other province in Pakistan. Imran Khan also said that the KP government has rebuilt some 600 schools out of the earthquake-hit schools which was a responsibility of the federal government.
