The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party approved Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control & Communication (PPIC3) Centre, Lahore (Revised) at the cost of Rs 13.7 billion for public safety on Friday. The overall aim of the PPIC3 Programme is to improve Punjab Police's operational efficiency by deploying new hardware using up-to-date technology that will enable the Police to adopt more efficient working practices and new operating concepts. It will also bring together various elements of Punjab Police operation to work as a more unified team.
Officials told Business Recorder that in order to realize the vision of developing safe cities in the Province, PPIC3 Centres will be subsequently established in the larger cities (Rawalpindi, Multan, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur) of the Province to provide high quality emergency response systems to the public. The PDWP also approved construction of (Phase-II) Jourian to Siral Harraka Dhudial Road, length=30.00 km, Distt Rawalpindi at the cost of Rs 1328.214 million and Up-gradation of Vulnerable Unmanned Level Crossing Falling within the Territorial Jurisdiction of the Province of the Punjab at the cost of Rs 550 million.
These schemes were approved in the 5th meeting of PDWP of current fiscal year 2017-18 presided over the Chairman P&D Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan. Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, all Members of the Planning & Development Board, Provincial Secretaries concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant Provincial Departments also attended the meeting.
