The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Punjab has acquired the services of national and international universities to carry out research on environmental issues being faced by the province and suggest its best possible solutions. The department is also working to make brick kilns environment friendly, reduce wastage from factories and control release of carbon in the area. All these steps are aimed at saving the human, animal and botanical life.
Punjab Environment Minister Begum Zakia Shahnawaz expressed these views while addressing a two-day capacity building workshop jointly arranged by the USAID and Environment Department for its officers on Tuesday.
She said increasing vehicles, factories and all those issues contributing to environment pollution were causing change in the weather and climate change had become the biggest challenge for the mankind. USAID's Regional Environment Advisor Andrel Barannik trained the officers of the department on best international practices, diagnosing environmental impact, sampling and analysis.
