Journalists Welfare, Safety and Development Foundation has announced regular courses for professional, safety trainings of media persons across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Area. The decision was taken in a meeting of the foundation's cabinet. The meeting also planned to extend all possible support to needy people irrespective of professional affiliation.
The participants stressed the need for imparting quality professional and safety trainings to the media persons and decided that regular sessions should be arranged at the level of different press clubs in collaboration with relevant organizations of journalists.
The duty to supervise the capacity building programme was assigned to Khyber Union of Journalists' former president Nisar Mehmood, who has a vast experience in the field. Similarly, the meeting decided to continue work on the collection of data of the martyred media persons, their families so that the plan meant for welfare of the orphans could be shared with other charity organizations in the larger interests of the heirs of the deceased journalists.
The duty to complete the ongoing process about data was assigned to Rahmatullah Khan, who was asked to expedite work on the process. Besides, the participants agreed that being a welfare organization the JWSDF would also support common needy people in the society. The welfare, developmental and reforms activities will be supervised by Tariq Iqbal and he will also be responsible to keep liaison with different organizations to seek sponsorship.
Another senior journalist Abdul Qudoos was given the responsibility to work on preparations of proposals to ensure reasonable jobs, financial support to the orphans, heirs of the deceased journalists. The former president of Peshawar Press Club Syed Bukhar Shah Bacha, Ali Hazrat Bacha and other office-bearers were also assigned duties to seek support of government and private sector organizations to ensure welfare of the children and other relatives of deceased media persons and other needy people as well.
