Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party MPA Dr Abdul Majeed Khan Achakzai failed to appear before the court on Wednesday due to deteriorating health conditions, according to jail authorities. Medical documents pertaining to Achakzai's health were submitted to the court, the jail authorities added. As a result, the MPA's judicial remand was extended and the case was adjourned till August 3.
On June 24, Achakzai was presented before the court twice. During his first appearance, the MPA was seen being taken to court without any handcuffs and also misbehaved with members of the media. The MPA was not placed in remand during this appearance, however, when he was presented in court the second time, Achakzai was placed in police remand for five days. The MPA has been arrested in connection with his vehicle running over Traffic Sub-Inspector Haji Ataullah when it was speeding along GPO Chowk intersection in Quetta on June 20.
