Safety Consultant, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) Sheikh Muhammad Tufail has urged technical staff of the power distribution company for adopting all precautionary measures to avoid electrocution and electric shocks. He was addressing a safety seminar held in Mingora (Swat). Senior Pesco Management, Director General (HR) Muhammad Salim Jahangir, Director Safety Mian Zahid Qayum, CBA Union representatives and employees of Swat Circle attended the seminar.
The safety consultant directed the line staff to ensure the safety measures with letter and spirit and to not start without PTW (permit to work). Before starting work ensure power shutdown. On the completion of job LS will cancel the PTW by personally visiting grid station. He further said that poles on both the ends must properly earthen for the safety of technical staff working on line/pole. He urged them against standing on transformer or any other electrical instrument while working.
Addressing the seminar, the Director General HR Muhammad Salim Jahangir said that safety day must be observed regularly so that employees are educated about their safety. He stressed that by implementing and adopting these precautionary measures including safety rules and regulations, fatal accidents can be avoided and precious lives of employees could be secured. Other participants also highlighted the safety measures and directed general public not to extend their roofs near the electricity lines to avoid electrocution.
