Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has expressed dismay over submission of poor and incomplete working papers in replies to audit objections regarding Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and further investigation referred the matter to the sub-committee of the committee. The committee directed action against the concerned officials for showing negligence and non-seriousness and also warned the higher authorities of Health department for avoiding repetition of the act in future.
The meeting of PAC KP Assembly held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Abbottabad with Qurban Ali Khan in the chair. MPAs Mahmood Jan Khan, Mohammad Idrees Khattak, Arbab Wasim Hayat and Mahmood Ahmad Bettani, Secretary Assembly, Amanullah, Additional Secretary Assembly, Amjad Ali Khan, the Additional Secretary Health, Directors LRH Peshawar, and Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad, the higher authorities of health, law, audit and finance attended the meeting The PAC discussed the matter of not utilization of funds by LRH authorities, purchase of medicines, air-conditioners and dialysis equipments on higher rates of Rs 154.066 million, not provision of the record of different equipments for emergency field hospitals, overpayment in head of house subsidy, not recovery in head of rent from pharmacy shop and canteen, irregularities in amounts of income tax and stamp duty and irregularities to the tone of Rs 39.260 million in purchase of equipment and expenditures. The committee after detailed discussion expressed reservations on the provision of incomplete working papers by the management of LRH regarding audit of Rs 153.960 million and referred the matter to the sub-committee.
