A local court in Lahore on Saturday sent the prime suspect of Khadija Siddiqui case, Shah Hussain to seven-years in prison after finding him guilty of stabbing the law student. The prosecution submitted challan in the court in which the blood on suspect Shah Hussain's helmet has matched victim girl's DNA. The medical report has proved that the DNA in both samples is same, which is evidence against suspect Hussain.
Khadija's lawyer said, "Such evidence cannot be ignored, adding that media played a pivotal role in this case." He said they will knock the door of public support if justice is denied. He stressed that, "Forensic report cannot be altered." He accused Shah Hussain's father of siding with his son rather than advising him of better behavior. The bench found the son of an influential figure guilty of committing the crime and sent him to jail for seven years. Hussain was arrested from the court room. Siddiqui's lawyer said that he was thankful to the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) and the media. He stated that, "The society is heading towards a wayward direction due to lies. I am thankful that the case reached its logical conclusion." Siddiqui added that she has no enmity with anyone.
Meanwhile, Hussain stated that he will file an appeal against the court's verdict in the case. Khadija Siddiqui, a law student, was attacked by her class fellow, Shah Hussain, on May 3, 2016, near Shimla Hill where she along with her driver had gone to pick her younger sister from school. Both sisters were about to get into their car when helmet-wearing suspect attacked Khadija with a knife and stabbed her 23 times leaving her critically injured. Civil Lines police had registered a case against Shah Hussain on the charge of attempted murder. The suspect is happened to be son of a lawyer. It is pertinent to mention here that Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah took administrative notice of Khadija stabbing case, in June 2017 and directed the judicial magistrate to hear the trial on daily basis and conclude it in 30 days. The court had reserved its verdict in the case on July 27.
