Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat held steady at grain terminals across the southern US Plains on Friday, dealers said. Farmer sales were slow, with cash prices well below peaks hit earlier this month. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City were unchanged. At 10:38 am CDT (1538 GMT) K.C. September wheat futures were up 7 cents at $4.88 a bushel.
