Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday praised the role of the Baloch Regiment in the war against terrorism. He was addressing a two-day conference at the Baloch Regimental Centre in Abbottabad. The participants included soldiers and officers of various ranks as well as retired generals. Gen Bajwa said that the Baloch Regiment has gone through a number of sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

He praised the sacrifices of the martyrs and assured their families that the army will never forget those who gave their blood to defend and strengthen the nation. He gave the assurance that the army will keep fighting against terrorism in the country.
The army chief said that the Army will continue its efforts not only to eliminate the menace of terrorism but also to ensure that the country's borders remained secure. "This demands the highest standards of faith, professionalism and perseverance in the service of the nation." Gen Bajwa was made honourary Colonel-in-Chief of the Baloch Regiment.
He also laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs' Monument of the regiment. Former army chiefs Mirza Aslam Beg and Ashfaq Pervez Kayani were also in attendance, as were former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Tariq Majid and Rashid Mehmood.
