The Karachi Port handled 232,291 tonnes of cargo comprising 191,154 tonnes of import cargo and 41,137 tonnes of export cargo including 8,745 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 191,154 tonnes comprised of 69,375 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,637 tonnes of general cargo; 29,952 tonnes of bulk cargo: 11,706 tonnes of coal; 5,526 tonnes of soyabean meal; 5,594 tonnes of fertilizer; 2,839 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 4,287 tonnes of iron & steel scrap and 80,190 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,137 tonnes comprised of 41,037 tonnes of containerised cargo and 100 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 8,745 containers comprising of 4,364 containers import and 4,381 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,723 of 20's and 1,225 of 40's loaded while 57 of 20's and 67 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,356 of 20's and 318 of 40's loaded containers while 609 of 20's and 890 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely CMA CGM Puget, MOL Explorer, Sabya, Kota Layar, OOCL America, Bahra, Oriental Protea, Mariwit, Peace Angel and Chang Hang Cang Hai carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Prosper, Sima Giselle, Kota Kaya, MSC Manya, Nikolaos A, Superior and Le Min carrying containers, canola and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely UAFL Zanzibar and Selini carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely Sima Giselle, Sima Genesis and Da Dan Xia carrying containers and general cargo are expected to sail on Friday.
There was one vessel viz. Damas carrying general cargo due to arrive on Thursday while eight vessels viz. Libra, Fowairet, Wan Hai-506, APL Austria, APL Coral, Lian Huan Hu, Stolt Surf and Yangtze Innovation carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 107,354 tonnes includes 41,593 tonnes of diesel oil; 18,527 tonnes of palm oil; 30,961 tonnes of coal; 10,600 tonnes of soyabean; 2,101 tonnes of general cargo and 3,572 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 37,604 tonnes includes 37,604 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,400 containers comprising of 2,212 containers import and 188 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were two ships namely MV Chong Ming and MT BW Yang Tze carrying general cargo and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Tomoko and MT Bunga Allium carrying containers and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV APL Coral, CV MSC Tomoko, MV Diya-B, MV Chong Ming, MV Thor Maximus, MV Hanna-S, MV Leto, MT BW Yang Tze and MT Bunga Allium currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean seeds, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely MV Star Planet, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Karachi, MT Torm Valborg, MT Sea Mater-IV, MT Lion-M, MT Al Dasma, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Bahra, MT Analipsi Lady and MT Formosa Falcon carrying soyabean, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Rita, CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Gas Chem Antarctic and MT Lion-M carrying containers, chemical and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were six ships namely CV San Francisco, CV CMA CGM Nerval, CV MSC Rita, CV APL Austria, MV Gas Chem Antarctic and MV Chemroad Polaris carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV San Felix and CV Hugo Schulte carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday.
