Sindh Minister for Transport and Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has invited business community to invest in transport schemes. "Hundred or more busses need 15 percent investment whereas the Sindh government will provide 15 percent finance and 70 percent leasing facility. Removing old buses without bringing new one will create transport problems, he said, speaking at a dinner hosted by Gulzar Firoz, spokesman of UBG and chairman FPCCI Committee on Environment.
Shah said that the Sindh government had planned to improve the public transport system throughout the province especially in Karachi. In this regard, he said, many development projects have been initiated on modern lines to facilitate the commuters of Karachi. He apprised the business community that the Sindh government had already initiated green line, orange line, which was renamed in memory of renowned social worker late Abdul Sattar Edhi, Blue, Yellow and Red Lines bus service that are under way in Karachi.
"Sindh government has initiated projects to overcome water shortage. K-4 project is likely to be completed, soon. Project of water desalination has been signed and several other projects are under negotiations," he said, adding that work on Dhabeji industrial zone is in progress. He said that both Chinese and Pakistan investors would invest in this zone.
The minister said that the doors of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its government are open for the businessmen, as well. He asked the business community to join PPP to enter into active politics. He told them that the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto had already advised them to resolve issues of business community on priority basis.
Shah said that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had initiated several development projects in Karachi. He expressed hope that a remarkable change would be visible soon. President FPCCI, Zubair Tufail, proposed that the Chief Minister should hold investors' conference in different countries to bring in investment to Sindh province.
