Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Shafqat Mahmood has accused the ruling party of running a dirty campaign against PTI chief Imran Khan through Ayesha Gulalai. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said the PML-N is behind Gulalai and a series of sexual harassment allegations were being levelled against PTI chairman Imran Khan.
He condemned the political opponents for "launching filthy campaign" against the PTI after disqualification of Nawaz Sharif. He rejected the parliamentary committee which was constituted by the National Assembly to probe the allegations for the reason that the committee will not conduct an impartial inquiry.
"Its members comprising our political opponents will act bias towards us. We will only accept a probe that is impartial and transparent," he added. To a question, Mahmood said, "We have an ideology against corruption so we cannot sit with those who are themselves corrupt. Ill intentions of our enemies will never succeed."
On the occasion, he disclosed that Chaudhry Nisar wished to be named as a Foreign minister but he was not given a cabinet seat. Meanwhile, Dr Yasmin Rashid, a PTI candidate for NA-120 by-election, told media that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has not maintained a complete record of voters' list in NA-120.
She also complained that the ECP has not yet decided on the method of vote casting, whether the election will be manual or biometric. "If biometric voting system is used then necessary arrangements as well as awareness is required," she added. She accused former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz of spending public funds on their personal expenditures, including protocol and media cell.
