Tahir Khan clinched the trophy of the Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Police Badminton Championship, which concluded here at Wadood Indoor Hall, Peshawar Sports Complex on Friday. Director General Sports KP, Junaid Khan was the chief guest on this occasion. Secretary KP Badminton Association Haji Amjad Khan, In-charge Directorate of Sports Police Faisal Javed, Organizing Secretary Hayat Ullah, President Peshawar District Badminton Association Mian Saddaqat Shah, players and officials were also present and witnessed the finals.
In the man single final Tahir Khan defeated Haroon Khan by 2-1, the score was 21-17, 19-21 and 21-18. In woman single Urooj Khan, a former KP No 1 recorded victory against Fatima of Sarhad University by 2-1 in the final played on thrilling note. In the men doubles Tahir and Masood of KP Police recorded victory against Haroon and Zohaib in straight sets, the score was 21-18, 21-17. In the Junior category final Hammad Khan beat Aziz Khan byu 21-19 and 21-15.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Junaid Khan paid rich tribute to Shuhada-e-Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for rendering unmatched sacrifices only to protect people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against militant. He underscored the steps being taken for the promotion of badminton alongside other sports.
