Robberies, snatching on the rise in Islamabad

Ratio of various kinds of crimes including robberies, snatching and motor vehicle theft has registered an upward trend during the last week contrary to tall claims of capital police with regard to controlling crimes. According to data gathered by Business Recorder on Saturday through registered first information reports (FIRs), various police stations of the city registered nine cases of theft including robbery, burglary and snatching, six cases of car lifting, four cases of kidnapping and two cases of murder during the last week.
The criminal gangs had a field day within in the limits of Shahzad Town, Sabzi Mandi, Sihala, and Bhara Kahu police stations. Shahzad Town police station registered three cases of robbery and one case of auto theft during the period under review. One Muhammad Nadeem filed a complaint with Shahzad Town police station that unknown robbers stole two mobile phones, cash and gold ornaments from his house. Another victim Hameed Ullah registered a complaint with Shahzad Town police station that unknown bandits broke into his house and looted jewellery and cash. They also took away a bike bearing registration number PN-982.
Some unknown people stormed into the house of one Sardar Shahbir Hussain located in the limits of same police station, looted cash and escaped from the scene. Similarly, two cases of robberies were reported to Sabzi Mandi police station during the aforementioned period. One Zubaida Khatoon lodged a complaint with Sabzi Mandi police station that unknown women came to her house for work and stole gold ornaments. In another incident, Sohail Khaliq lodged a complaint with the same police station that unidentified robbers stole cash and jewellery from his house.
Bhara Kahu police station registered two cases, one each of murder and kidnapping. Chaudhry M Bashir lodged a complaint that accused Shaukat, Tahir and Perveen Bibi kidnapped his sister. A victim Pervez Akhtar informed the same police station that accused Mushtaq, Hameda Bibi and Aqeela Bibi killed his daughter. During the period, Sihala police station registered one case each of robbery and auto theft. Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number RIK-811 of Qasir Hussain from his house.
In another incident, Arshad Mahmood filed a complaint with Sihala police station that unknown robbers stole cash and other valuables from his house. Aabpara, Tarnol and Ramna police stations registered one case each of auto theft. Nilor, Koral and Margalla police stations registered one case each of kidnapping during the last week. Bani Gala and Karachi Company police stations registered one case each of robbery, while Kohsar police station registered one case of murder.
