The Met Office on Monday forecast a scattered rain-thunderstorm for the most parts of upcountry in the next 24 hours. It said that scattered rain-thunderstorm with few heavy falls is expected in Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala Divisions, besides FATA, Islamabad and Kashmir. Isolated rain-thunderstorm is likely in Lahore, Malakand, Kohat, Bannu, D I Khan and Zhob Divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan, while a light rain/drizzle in Makran Division and coastal areas of Sindh. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
"Weak seasonal low lies over north Balochistan. Weak moist currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating upper parts of country. A shallow westerly wave is affecting northern parts of the country and its adjoining areas," the Met said. Over the last 24 hours: Maximum rainfall was recorded in Punjab: Lahore (Airport 29 mm, City 12 mm), Gujranwala 6 mm, Murree 3 mm, Kasur 2 mm. Khyber Pukhtunkhwa: Balakot 16 mm, Kakul 14 mm and Kalam 3 mm. Dalbandin with 45 degrees Celsius was the hottest pleace in the country followed by Nokkundi and Sibbi 44, each.
