The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have warned the ruling party (PML-N) to strictly follow the security plan for Nawaz Sharif's rally agreed in a meeting between the party leadership and the LEAs as deviation from it may lead to a serious mishap. "History tells that SOPs are often ignored and violated which lead to serious incidents changing the history of politics in the country," said sources in the provincial police department while talking to Business Recorder here on Monday.
"Though the LEAs have devised an 'unprecedented security plan' for ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, there is still a matter of concern, if SOPs are violated, as VVIPs, VIPs and security officials were the prime target of the banned outfits," sources added.
In case of violating SOPs, they said the third party would take advantage of the situation which will create many problems in maintaining law and order. The sources further said it was extremely hard to identify and nab the 'suicide bombers' in large gatherings, especially during processions, demonstrations or rallies. Referring to the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, they said the ousted prime minster should not come out in public gathering.
"Threat will increase manifold if the former PM comes out of his vehicle during his journey," the sources cautioned. As there are serious security threats, the ousted PM should not reschedule his plan and should come to Lahore via motorway, they opined. It may be added here that the police officials have already been asked for conducting search and sweep operations in the province in order to ensure law and order situation. Meanwhile, the sources further said that the law enforcers will also cordon off GT Road, especially the areas which will fall under the rout of ousted PM Nawaz.
