The Punjab government has earmarked Rs 250 million for the establishment of Women Protection Centers in different districts of the province for the welfare and betterment of the women folk. This was stated by the Director General Social Welfare Waheed Akhtar Ansari while addressing a ceremony held at Darul Amaan of Social Welfare Department in connection with Independence Day Celebrations.
He greeted the Independence Day to the Darul Amaan inmates and said that promoting the social justice in the society was also objective of achievement of Pakistan and the community should also come forward for the fulfillment of this objective. He consoled the oppressed women residing in Darul Amaan and said that the Punjab govt was taken all out measures for the rehabilitation of the victimized women. He informed that all out legal and administrative support would be provided to the women through Women Protection Centers for providing them opportunities to lead the comfortable & pleasant life. He thanked the philanthropists for their cooperation for the betterment of Darul Amaan and inmates women. Chairperson Advisory Committee MPA Madeha Rana, while addressing the ceremony, highlighted the importance and significance of independence and said that the Darul Amaan inmates were being participated in the celebrations of Independence Day to follow the philosophy of Pakistan ideology. She also informed the participants about the steps taken by the Punjab govt for safeguarding the rights of the women. She said that the rights of the women would be protected in all cost for which Women Protection Authority is working under law.
Director Social Welfare Muhammad Shahid Rana, Deputy Director Chaudhry Ashraf and incharge Darul Amaan Sofia Rizwan also spoke on the occasion and thanked the guests for participating in the Independence Day Celebrations. Later, gifts were also distributed among the Darul Amaan inmates and the guests cut the Jashan-e-Azadi cake. Special prayers were offered for the national solidarity and progress of the country.
