The security of the provincial metropolis has been put on high alert in the wake of the deposed prime minister's homecoming; particularly shrines, Imambargahs and other sensitive installations of city are under close-circuit monitoring as ousted Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, is likely to reach his hometown on Saturday (today).
Sources in the provincial police department told Business Recorder here on Friday that all security arrangements have been finalised for the ousted prime minister as he is likely to visit the shrine of Data Darbar today (Saturday). They said that additional CCTV cameras have been installed in the city for monitoring the rally of ex-PM.
According to the sources, Police said that some of the cameras will be monitored through the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) while others will be monitored through different desks established at the CPO, CCPO and DIG Operation's office. The police further said, "The security arrangements are foolproof." Meanwhile, police arrested several people during their ongoing crackdown against the suspected and anti-state elements.
Earlier, the city traffic police (CTP) Lahore had issued a comprehensive traffic plan for the convenience of motorists. According to the plan the city traffic is divided into 11 sectors. As per the plan, The Mall, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, Bund Road and Ring Road will remain open for traffic while the metro-bus service will run from MAO College to Gajjumata.
