The Karachi Port handled 158,839 tonnes of cargo comprising 120,059 tonnes of import cargo and 38,780 tonnes of export cargo including 6,448 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 120,059 tonnes comprised of 18,349 tonnes of containerised cargo; 137 tonnes of general cargo; 40,143 tonnes of bulk cargo: 25,323 tonnes of coal; 6,146 tonnes of canola; 1,035 tonnes of soyabean meal; 4,959 tonnes of fertilizer; 2,680 tonnes of steel scrap and 61,430 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,780 tonnes comprised of 33,128 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of general cargo; 5,502 tonnes of bulk cargo: 664 tonnes of fertilizer and 4,838 tonnes of iron powder. As many as 6,448 containers comprising of 3,053 containers import and 3,395 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 927 of 20's and 1,063 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 776 of 20's and 191 of 40's loaded containers while 601 of 20's and 818 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely MSC Krittika, Archon, Achilles, ISE and Chuan Hong-88 carrying containers, oil tanker, meal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Bodo Schulte, MOL Eminence, IVS Gleneagles, Newa, ISE and Densa Hawk carrying containers, coal, cable layar and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely OOCL Shangai, MOL Eminence and Niwa carrying containers and cable layar respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely Kong Que Zuo carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Saturday.
There were four vessels viz. APL Austria, Al Farahidi, Totonno Bottiglieri and BF Ayita carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while five vessels viz. Virgo, Mohar, Golden Daisy, Malto Hope and Lucky Ocho carrying containers, cement, DAP and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 152,690 tonnes comprising 135,590 tonnes of import cargo and 17,100 tonnes of export cargo including 1,800 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 135,590 tonnes includes 35,858 tonnes of furnace oil; 15,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,540 tonnes of LPG; 13,850 tonnes of palm oil; 37,423 tonnes of coal; 2,290 tonnes of soyabean oil; 8,400 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 2,129 tonnes of chemical and 17,100 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 17,100 tonnes includes 17,100 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,800 containers comprising of 900 containers import and 900 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely MV Fair Chem Success and MT Al-Jassasiyam carrying soyabean and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four ships namely CV Mehun, MV Paros Seas, MV Malhari and MT NCC Danah carrying containers, coal, chemical and palm oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Mehun, MV Diya-B, MV Paros Seas, MV Curia, MV Star Planet, MT Al-Jassasiyam, MV Malhari, MV Fair Chem Success, MT Karachi and MT NCC Danah currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, chemical, soyabean oil, soyabean meal, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely CV San Francisco, MV Lamphini Park, MV Diya-B, MT Epic Sardina, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Torm Valborg, MT Sea Mater-IV, MT Pavino Spirit, MT Maritime Suzzanne, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Bahra, MT Formosa Falcon, MT Arepeggeo and MT Geo Cheng-2 carrying containers, project cargo, cement, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV San Francisco, CV Hansa America, MV Lamphini Park, MT Arepeggeo and MT Geo Cheng-2 carrying containers, project cargo and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were seven ships namely CV Hansa America, CV Virgo, CV New Ark, CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Spiekeroog, MV SBI Orion and MT Milac Victoria carrying containers, project cargo, coal and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV MCB Beijing and CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely MV Theofano Star carrying soyabean is due to arrive on Sunday.
