Welfare-oriented activities: philanthropists urged to benefit from Lions Club's forum
Spiritual consolation and mental peace is directly interlinked with the sharing of sufferings of poor and neglected segments of the society. Hence, the local philanthropists should fully exploit the platform of Lions Club to continue their welfare oriented activities in organized and scientific manners. These views are expressed by Lion Mian Muhammad Adrees a candidate for the post of international Director Lions Club.
Addressing the office bearers and members of 5 newly created Lions clubs in FCCI here today, he said that the Islam also attaches high priority to the service of humanity and it is very satisfying that most of the FCCI members continue their welfare activities in different forms throughout the year. He said that if these activities are channelized through Lions Club, they would not only earn the spiritual satisfaction but also get a sizeable matching grant to further expand their welfare activities.
Continuing, he said that most of the new club members are unaware of modalities to conduct the meeting of Lions Club in according to the set rules and regulations. He recommended that office bearers of new club should induct senior and seasoned Lions in their clubs to continue their activities without any hurdle. He also offered to arrange a training session for the new members so that they could manage the affairs of their respective clubs in according to international standards. "The new club members should also learn to maintain the record of their welfare activity in according to the set format so that they could also become eligible to apply for the matching grant from the International Club", he added. He also mentioned a Lion of Shahkot who has donated his precious commercial property for the welfare of local community and in return he got a latest eye screening equipment of Rs 10 million as matching grant from the International Club.
Mian Muhammad Adrees urged upon the Lions to make extensive arrangements for the facility of free eye screening, hepatitis and sugar tests etc as most of the people are unaware of the fact that they are suffering from these diseases. He said that lions could also arrange awareness session for the education and guidance of the public on different topics of health, education and civic issues etc. He expressed satisfaction that many of FCCI members are already providing free Rashan and food to the destitute and this practice is continuing for the last many months and years. This is the real spirit of Lionism and we must continue it in future, he added. He asked the office bearers of new clubs to launch maximum projects to mitigate the sufferings of the poor.
Lion Rashid Muneer briefed about the fee structure of the Lions Club and told that all new club members have to pay 45 dollars to the international club. Similarly the fee for district club is Rs 400 and it is Rs 50 for the Multiple Club. He said that only affordable persons should get the membership of Lion Club who can donate sufficient funds for the welfare oriented projects launched by their respective club.
Rana Sikandar Azam Senior Vice President FCCI told that most of the peoples are willing to visit America and by becoming member of the Lions Club you can get American visa without any unnecessary hassle. He told that along with senior members he had participated in the centennial celebrations of the Lions Club in Chicago in which 70 to 80,000 Lions from all over the world had participated.
Vice President Engineer Ahmed Hassan thanked the participants of the meeting and told that Lion Rashid Muneer and Khurram Jahangir have been appointed as coordinator to guide new members.
President FCCI Engineer Saeed Muhammad Sheikh also highlighted the commitment and dedication of the FCCI members who are actively participating in the welfare activities individually as well as collectively. This function was attended by the office bearers and members of FCCI Ultimate Lions Club, Faisalabad Victory, Faisalabad Trends, Faisalabad Perfect and Faisalabad Kings Lions Club.
