A local leader of Pakistan Peoples Party-Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB) Irshad Khaskheli was allegedly shot and injured in a police encounter a few hours after his arrest and temporary detention at Hussainabad police station. However, the police spokesman Mazhar Shani claimed on Saturday that Khaskheli sustained a gunshot wound to his leg when he allegedly engaged the Phuleli police in an exchange of fire during a raid for his arrest.
According to Shani, the suspect was booked in 18 cases and was also an absconder in many police cases. On the other hand, Khaskheli's wife Kiran Khaskheli claimed that her husband was arrested from Qasimabad area and later kept for few hours at Hussainabad police station before the encounter.
